Videos: Oxford University Debate – Is Islam a religion of peace?

So this debate goes on from time to time in certain universities, and one such debate went on in Oxford regarding our religion of Islam, and whether it was truly a religion of peace or not.

Attached below are the videos representing the PRO side and the CON side, all by esteemed intellects, professors of sciences, political experts and the like.

However, if you are like most of my friends and cant be arsed with watching these videos, then I HIGHLY recommend the third video of the PRO side, by Mehdi Hassan.

This man single handedly demolishes any and all discussion with his objectivity and factual statements.

SIMPLY awesome.

CON Islam debate:

Gotta love Mehdi’s response.

Great post first and foremost! Thanks for sharing!

It’s quite liberating to hear the views of people who are not Muslims but are Pro Islam; especially in societies where hate is the driving motive of these biased opinions.

The lady in the second video of the “Con Islam debate” is poorly educated about Islam and what it actually represents to more than 1.6 Billion Muslims all over the world. Yet, she attempts to impose her contradicting views based on false facts about the Home of Islam, Child Marriage, Polygamy, Unequal Gender Rights, Gender Segregation… etc.

Sadly, a lot of people tend to “ignorantly” skim through headlines without bothering to read the whole sentence. They would read “ولا تقربوا الصلاة” and disregard “و أنتم سكارى”, which in fact defeats the whole purpose of having an intellectual debate about a very controversial issue.

    Again, thanks for sharing bro!

Mehdi Hassan was simply amazing throughout. He totally destroys every argument they have, and it goes to show that level of education does not automatically equate to ignorance / lack of ignorance.

These were supposedly the “cream of the crop”, professors etc..

      Loved the debate!
